Are you a coffee person or tea lover?
I have always been a coffee drinker. I don’t think I have a coffee issue like some others who need 3-4 cups a day. I just love the ritual of brewing coffee in the morning. Sometimes if it is a long day I will maybe sip on a 2nd cup, but it isn’t a necessity.
Tea has never been my ..cup of tea? (get it?!) It isn’t that I hate it, I just haven’t found one I loved that much and usually it is too hot to drink and I set it down somewhere to cool off and completely forget about it. Anyone else do this?
I have decided during this winter to get more into the tea game. That doesn’t mean I am giving up my morning coffee, I just want to add a warm beverage to my afternoon routine, and not just to keep my hands warm during these cold New England months.
Here Are Some Healthy Facts About Tea Drinking:
- Tea contains antioxidant properties (helps remove free radicals and decrease cell damage in the body. This ultimately may help decrease the risk of chronic disease/cancer)
- Black Tea contains Flavonoids which has been shown to lower your risk of heart disease and consuming them on a regular basis may help reduce many risk factors for heart disease, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, elevated triglyceride levels and obesity.
- Regular tea drinking may lower your risk for Alzheimer’s disease. The exact cause of Alzheimer’s is still unclear but research has shown that green and black tea drinking improves cognitive scores among those with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
- The combination of caffeine and L-theanine in tea has been shown to improve memory, concentration, and reaction time.
These are just a handful of benefits I have researched about tea.
