New Year Goals: Meal Prepping Tips

Meal prepping can seem like a daunting task, but once you get the hang of it it really isn’t that bad.

Here are some tips and favorite products to help you on your food prep journey:

Storage/Containers

I highly suggest using glass containers to store all of your pre-made foods. It is better for you and the environment.

You can also use large mason jars for layered meals or small mason jars to hold dressings or sauces.

If you are using plastic be sure to use BPA free. BPA is a chemical used in manufacturing polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. BPA can leach from plastic containers into foods and beverages, especially when the containers are heated in the microwave. This may pose a potential risk to the environment and your health.

Hard Boiled Eggs (9-13 minutes total cook time)

Slow Cooker Chili ( Large batch slow cooked in the morning for the week. Freeze half and keep other half in fridge for lunches)

Egg Muffins (use a muffin tin and cook eggs with your choice of filling for easy grab and go breakfast or snack)

Other Tips

At dinner make sure to set aside a portion for the following day’s lunch. This will ensure you don’t over eat at dinner and no worrying about what to eat the next day!

Keep washed and sliced veggies in containers in the fridge at all times. This is great for snackers who can reach for sliced cucumber instead of chips. 

Have a plan and map out your meals for the week ahead. Do this and it will help you to grocery shop and prep more efficiently when ready.
