I have officially reached my second trimester!
A few things I have noticed already:
General feeling of normalness
It definitely feels nice to be onto the next portion of the pregnancy, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel a bit guilty/discouraged about the weight I have gained over the last few months.
It is my understanding that you really don’t need to gain more than 5 lbs (if that) during your first trimester. I ended up gaining 10!
I exercise on a daily basis, and in general eat fairly healthy. So what could have caused such a big jump in just 12 weeks? ….. TAKEOUT
I was so exhausted throughout the first few months that I didn’t cook nearly as much I normally would, and between the cravings and bouts of nausea I just ate a lot more processed junk. I was still working out so I didn’t think it would make that big of a difference, but I was wrongooo!
Pizza, chips, sushi, and ice-cream can add up fast even if you are exercising regularly.
The point I am trying to make is that pregnant or not food always rules over exercise.
I still have some anxiety about gaining too much weight, but I know that the most important thing is being healthy – not just for me, but for the baby.
It isn’t all about the number on the scale, it is about the quality of the foods I am consuming.
