Sugar Detox: Days 5 & 6

I can’t believe it is already day 6 of the Sugar Detox Challenge!

I have a confession to make.

My sugar intake has been between 25-35 grams all week according to My Fitness Pal, however I have been eating some simple carbs here and there. A true sugar detox would mean cutting out all simple carbs. So, while I don’t want to call this past week’s challenge a wash I would admit it was not truly a “sugar detox”.  With that being said, I have taken in a lot less sugar that I would have been otherwise. ( I am usually in the 45-55 range for sugar in grams). My fruit intake was low compared to other weeks, and I avoided a ton of processed sugar foods.

As a reference, here are some of the foods I have eaten over the past week that should NOT be consumed during a sugar detox, but otherwise are not so bad! :

Josephs Flax Oat Bran and Whole Wheat Pita Bread ( 1 pita: 0 grams sugar, 9 grams carbs, 2 grams fat, 6 grams protein, 60 calories)

Skinny Pop Popcorn (3 cups: 0 grams sugar, 10 grams fat,  15 grams carbs, 2 grams protein,150 calories)

Homemade Vegetable Lasagna ( I made this over the week and it had cheese, tomato sauce, and zucchini in it. Not positive on the macros, but the tomato sauce and pasta was not on sugar detox. I will say that this recipe is a relatively healthy lasagna with very little pasta!)
