Workout Essentials: At Home Workout

IMG_1413If you like to get your workout in at home, or just don’t have time to make it out to the local gym these are my favorite at home equipment pieces. I also believe you get the biggest bang for your buck on these.

Exercise Bands: Exercise bands are amazing for at home workouts or anywhere workouts. They are small and compact so you can take them with you anywhere. They also have different levels of difficulty depending on the strength of the band. You can do side shuffles for the side of the booty or bent over rows to work the arms. You can do a ton with these bands and they allow you to go from lighter to heavier as you get stronger. My bands were bought from Tone It Up and cost very little.

Kettlebell: Kettlebells are a great addition to your at home gym. I believe you should start with a 15 to 20 lb. kettlebell or heavier if you can afford. The types of exercises I do with this bad boy is kettlebell swings, goblet squats, and some one legged deadlifts. These don’t take up a ton of space and open up an array of new exercises for you to do in your home. (Look for the best deal on Amazon for purchasing).

Heavy Dumbbells: Ok, so 15 lbs. may not seem heavy to most but when you are doing toning workouts and HIITS in your attic, these get the job done. Heavier weights are great to use for bigger muscle groups.. like your BUTT and your legs. You’re hammies and glutes are much stronger than you think and starting off with a heavier weight on those muscle groups will help you get stronger and push you harder. I use 15s as my heavy weights, but if you think you can start with some 20s or higher, go for it!

Lighter Dumbbells: I own a pair of 6 lbs weights. This is light, yes.. but think about doing FAST paced workouts or a barre type workout. When you use light weights at many reps you will feel the burn! These are great to incorporate with ab workouts as well. (Think crunch to a right left punch with weights in hands). You can also challenge yourself to squat jump while holding these lighter weights in hand for added challenged.
