Welcome to Jackie’s weekly crave! This week I am all about the MCT Oil.
MCT stands for Medium-Chain Triglycerides, they are a form of saturated fatty acid that has many different health benefits. It has been shown to improve cognitive function as well as better weight management. Right now, both of those are sounding pretty good.
I first heard about MCT Oil from my favorite Podcast, Abel James-Fat Burning Man. He has talked about the benefits of Fatty Coffee on numerous episodes, as well as in his Wild Diet book.(PS: I highly recommend anything from Abel, I absolutely love him and what he is all about!)Fatty Coffee is the typical “vessel” used to get that MCT oil in your system.
Fatty Coffee consists of coffee, butter, and coconut oil. This type of coffee contains a lot of healthy fat, which in turn keeps you feeling satiated and alert. I typically drink a “fatty coffee” or my version of fatty coffee, when I am not super hungry in the AM or if I am doing an intermittent fast. I like to stick with 1-2 tablespoons of heavy cream, a tablespoon of coconut oil, and 8-12 oz. of French press coffee.
This week, instead of the coconut oil, which is a great source for the MCT’s (around 65% of the fatty acids in coconut oil are MCTs) I am just using the straight MCT Oil.
I honestly feel much more alert, and it is currently noon and I have not broken my fast yet.
The verdict is in, MCT Oil is a good purchase.
